Governor Sindh Overturns Ruling, But Alvi Steps Down as CEO
Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, CEO of K-Electric, has resigned after months of controversy surrounding harassment allegations made by a former senior employee. The issue remained in the spotlight due to prolonged legal and administrative proceedings, with reports suggesting Alvi had been under significant mental stress during the inquiry process.
Alvi, who joined K-Electric in 2008 and became CEO in 2018, was a prominent figure in the company, leading several initiatives including the Roshani Baji programme. The allegations were brought forward by the company’s former Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, who accused Alvi and others of harassment, intimidation, and creating a hostile work environment. The Sindh High Oversight Authority initially ordered Alvi’s removal and imposed a fine, but he rejected the charges and vowed to contest them legally.

Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori later overturned the authority’s order, citing procedural flaws and lack of evidence in the complaint. Despite this, the controversy persisted, with the complainant maintaining that her termination was linked to her allegations. K-Electric has yet to release an official statement on Alvi’s resignation or announce his interim successor.
