Inactive Mobile Numbers May Be Reissued, Says PTA
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned consumers that mobile SIMs left unused for a long period may be deactivated. In its statement, PTA clarified that mobile operators have the authority to block SIMs that have not been used for calls, messages, or internet data during the past six months. Any SIM that remains completely inactive for 180 days will be subject to this action.

According to the authority, once a SIM is blocked, its number can be reissued to another customer. PTA further stated in its social media advisory that once a number is reassigned, the former user will have no legal rights or claims over it. Consumers have been advised to use their SIMs regularly to avoid deactivation.
