Emergency Declared in Capital After Deadly Tarlai Explosion
At least 31 people were killed and 169 injured in a suicide bombing at an Imambargah in Islamabad’s Tarlai area. According to the district administration spokesperson, 31 bodies have been brought to different hospitals so far.
Islamabad police confirmed that the blast occurred in the courtyard of the Imambargah and was a suicide attack. The administration further stated that 169 people were injured and shifted to various hospitals across the capital, including PIMS and Polyclinic, where emergency measures have been enforced.
Following the explosion, Islamabad was placed under emergency. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the health minister to personally oversee the medical treatment of the injured.
