Bata India Hits 2,000 Stores, Sets 3,000-Outlet Target With Focus on Tier III-IV and Digital Growth

Bata India has crossed 2,000 stores and plans to expand to 3,000 outlets, targeting growth in Tier III and IV towns through franchising. India, which accounts for nearly 20% of the group’s global revenue, remains Bata’s largest market and manufacturing hub. The company sells ∼50 million pairs annually across retail and online channels.

Digital is becoming a key growth driver. 90% of stores now act as hyperlocal fulfilment centers, and e-commerce is projected to contribute 20%-25% of revenue in the coming years. Bata is also scaling its zero-based merchandising format from 775 to 900 stores by end-2026 to improve inventory efficiency and margins.
