National Carrier Reconnects with Europe, Offers Enhanced Services
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed direct flights to Paris today (Friday), ending a four-and-a-half-year suspension. The inaugural flight, PK-749, operated by a Boeing 777, departed from Islamabad International Airport at 12:10 PM, carrying 330 passengers and 14 crew members. Aviation Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and other senior officials attended the send-off ceremony.

To mark the occasion, the aircraft was adorned with an Eiffel Tower model on its tail and the slogan “I Love Paris” on its nose. PIA will now operate twice-weekly direct flights between Islamabad and Paris on Fridays and Sundays. The service has received an overwhelming response, with full bookings for the initial flights, catering to high demand from the Pakistani community in France and beyond.

The airline has also introduced a wireless in-flight entertainment system and partnered with Air France for onward connections to 21 European destinations. This relaunch follows the lifting of the European Union’s aviation ban on Pakistani airlines, enabling PIA to resume operations in Europe. Additionally, PIA has bolstered its domestic fleet and aims to achieve a 90% on-time performance rate, reaffirming its commitment to enhanced connectivity and customer satisfaction.
