Deadly Roof Collapse at Lahore Tuition Centre Claims 14 Young Lives
A tragic roof collapse at a tuition centre in Lahore’s Kahna area has claimed the lives of 14 children and left several others injured. The incident occurred while students were attending classes at a tuition centre near Basti Eid Gah, where the roof suddenly caved in, trapping dozens of children beneath the rubble.
According to Edhi officials, more than 20 children and a teacher were buried under the debris. Rescue teams from Rescue 1122, Edhi, the police, and the district administration rushed to the scene and launched an immediate rescue operation. Police personnel worked alongside emergency responders to remove the debris and evacuate the victims. The injured children were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kahna, where several remain in critical condition. Rescue officials said the collapsed roof had been constructed using T-R girders.

Heartbreaking scenes unfolded as parents and relatives gathered at the site, desperately searching for their children. Lahore DIG Operations Faisal Kamran personally supervised the rescue operation, directed officials to utilize all available resources, and later visited the injured children at the hospital. He also met the bereaved families, expressed his condolences, and assured them of full legal, administrative, and humanitarian support.
Police have taken two individuals, including the building owner, into custody as part of the initial investigation. Authorities are collecting evidence to determine the exact cause of the collapse and identify those responsible. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif took immediate notice of the tragedy, sought a detailed report from the relevant authorities, ordered the provision of the best possible medical treatment to the injured, directed officials to expedite the rescue efforts, and instructed that those found responsible be held accountable under the law.
