New Partnership to Expand Farmers’ Access to Storage, Credit and Better Markets
Karandaaz Pakistan has partnered with Kissan Gudam, a venture of the Hajisons Group, to strengthen Pakistan’s farming communities and modernise the agricultural ecosystem. The collaboration combines modern storage infrastructure, digital financial services and direct market access to help smallholder farmers reduce post-harvest losses, protect crop quality, access formal credit and secure better returns on their produce.
Kissan Gudam’s model combines GrainPro’s affordable and portable hermetic storage technology with digital trading and agri-financing. The storage facilities can be installed closer to farming communities, reducing transportation costs and crop losses while making stored produce more reliable as collateral. Through Electronic Warehouse Receipt (EWR)-based financing, farmers will be able to use their stored crops to access formal financing, while a digital wallet linked to warehouse infrastructure will enable produce verification and faster disbursement of collateral-backed loans.
Karandaaz Pakistan and Kissan Gudam aim to scale the model across rural Pakistan, promoting financial inclusion, climate-resilient storage and stronger agricultural livelihoods. Karandaaz CEO Waqas ul Hasan said the initiative could transform the agricultural economy by connecting finance with storage and markets, while Kissan Gudam CEO Farhan Tahir highlighted its potential to improve farmers’ financial security and market access. U.S. Embassy Economic Officer Tom A. Peter also described the partnership as a strong example of US–Pakistan collaboration in agriculture.
