Aimal Wali Demands Transparent Investigation into Bank of Khyber Irregularities
Awami National Party (ANP) President Senator Aimal Wali Khan has called for an immediate, transparent, and independent investigation into alleged financial irregularities, nepotism, and administrative misconduct at the Bank of Khyber (BoK). In a statement, he expressed serious concern over reports of alleged corruption involving billions of rupees, saying that if the allegations are proven, they would amount to a major loss of public resources and could severely damage the credibility of the province’s only government-owned bank.
Criticizing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, Aimal Wali Khan said that despite years of claims of good governance, many institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are now facing allegations of corruption and mismanagement. He also questioned the academic credentials of the Bank of Khyber’s Managing Director and called for immediate clarification on the matter.
The ANP leader further raised concerns over the composition of the bank’s Board of Directors, claiming that none of its members belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He questioned why key financial decisions affecting the province were being entrusted to individuals from outside the province, asking whether there was a shortage of qualified and experienced professionals within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Aimal Wali Khan demanded an independent investigation into the bank’s financial, administrative, and legal affairs, the public release of all internal audit reports, amendments to the Bank of Khyber law to require the Managing Director or CEO to be from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, greater provincial representation on the Board of Directors, and strict accountability for anyone found responsible for corruption or misuse of authority. He added that ANP would continue to raise its voice to protect the rights and resources of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Note: The allegations mentioned in this statement are claims made by ANP President Senator Aimal Wali Khan. No official investigation findings or response from the Bank of Khyber or the relevant authorities were included in the statement.
