Pakistan Accelerates EV Adoption with Local Production and Buyer Incentives
Officials revealed that more than 12,800 electric vehicles and 160,000 electric motorcycles have already been manufactured locally, reflecting the rapid development of Pakistan’s EV industry. To further encourage adoption, the government has allocated Rs9 billion in subsidies for two- and three-wheeled electric vehicles, offering up to Rs80,000 per electric motorcycle for eligible buyers.
Experts believe the initiative will help reduce Pakistan’s fuel import bill, cut environmental pollution, and make electric transport more affordable for low- and middle-income households.
