Jam Kamal Praises Success of Pakistan Rice Festival in Europe

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has praised the successful organization of the Pakistan Rice Festival 2026 in the Netherlands, saying that such international events help promote Pakistani exports, expand access to global markets, and strengthen Pakistan’s image abroad. He appreciated the efforts of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and trade officials for making the event a success.

Held under the theme “From Pakistan’s Fields to Europe’s Tables,” the festival attracted more than 100 importers, retailers, food experts, chefs, diplomats, and business leaders from across Europe. The event aimed to introduce Pakistani basmati rice to European consumers, strengthen business ties, and create new investment opportunities in the agriculture and food sectors.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Syed Haider Shah, said that Pakistani basmati rice is now exported to over 100 countries and is valued worldwide for its distinctive aroma, long grains, and high quality. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining international food safety standards, sustainability, traceability, and quality assurance, while noting that Pakistani basmati enjoys Geographical Indication (GI) protection.

Participants at the festival sampled various premium rice varieties, including Super Kernel Basmati, and received briefings on quality standards and European market requirements. The event also highlighted opportunities for agricultural cooperation between Pakistan and the Netherlands, while promoting Pakistan’s football manufacturing industry. The Netherlands remains one of Pakistan’s key export markets in Europe, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $1.94 billion.
