President Zardari, PM Shehbaz Host Prince Rahim Aga Khan During Pakistan Tour
Prince Rahim Aga Khan concluded a seven-day official visit to Pakistan on Tuesday, undertaken at the invitation of the government. During the visit, he travelled to Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Chitral, where he met members of the Ismaili community as well as senior federal and provincial officials. The visit marked his first official trip to Pakistan since becoming the 50th Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslim community.

Upon his arrival in Islamabad, Prince Rahim Aga Khan was warmly received at Nur Khan Airbase by Asif Ali Zardari and First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari. A guard of honour was presented at Aiwan-e-Sadr, followed by a state banquet hosted by President Zardari. The event was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Asim Munir, senior ministers, parliamentarians, and members of the diplomatic community.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan Reaffirms AKDN’s Commitment to Pakistan’s Development
During meetings with President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Prince Rahim Aga Khan reaffirmed the commitment of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) to supporting humanitarian and development efforts in Pakistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz praised his dedication to peace, stability, and development and presented him with a commemorative Pakistan Post stamp honouring the legacy of Aga Khan IV for his global humanitarian services and contributions to Pakistan.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan also visited Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, where he interacted with Ismaili community members in Passu, Gilgit, Gahkuch Bala, Taus, Parwak, and Garamchashma. During these gatherings, he highlighted the importance of unity, girls’ education, peaceful coexistence, and ethical conduct in civic and professional life. He also emphasized Islamic teachings including Tawhid, the finality of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and steadfastness on Sirat-al-Mustaqeem. The visit reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between the Ismaili Imamat and the people and Government of Pakistan.
