MUET Initiative Equips Youth with Digital Skills, Graduates Earn Rs2.9m
A ceremony was held in Hyderabad where certificates were awarded to 1,500 students who successfully completed a two-month training course under the Peoples Information Technology Programme. The initiative was organized by Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in collaboration with the Science and Information Technology department. The programme aimed to equip intermediate-passed youth from Hyderabad and Jamshoro with practical digital skills across 12 fields, including digital marketing, graphic designing, website development, Python, Java, e-commerce, mobile applications, and social media management.
Special Assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister for Science, Information and Technology, Ali Rashid, highlighted the importance of skills over degrees in today’s era of opportunities. He emphasized that setbacks should not discourage youth, as new opportunities always emerge. He also announced that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah plan to introduce more educational and training programmes for young people. Rashid praised MUET’s environment and performance, noting its role in shaping students’ futures.

MUET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali stated that the training had transformed students’ outlook on life and employment, preparing them for self-employment and productivity. He described the programme as an ideal initiative for Generation Z, acknowledging the challenges of training modern youth. Many graduates have already secured jobs and collectively earned approximately Rs2.9 million. The university assured that its doors would remain open for alumni seeking further education and training, reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment.
