TikTok Faces Strictest Action as 94% of Reported Content Blocked
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has submitted a crackdown report to the court, revealing that obscene and unethical content topped the list of blocked material nationwide.

According to the report, more than one million web links and URLs spreading illegal digital content were blocked, with Facebook and TikTok facing the highest number of restrictions. PTA stated that out of 229,000 Facebook links reviewed, 197,000 were blocked, while Instagram saw 43,000 links checked and 38,000 blocked, marking an 87% blocking rate. TikTok faced the strictest action, with over 174,000 links reviewed and 163,000 blocked, resulting in a 94% blocking rate. YouTube had 72,000 links checked, of which 64,000 were blocked, while X (formerly Twitter) had 112,000 links reviewed and 70,800 blocked, showing the lowest blocking rate at 62%.
The report further highlighted that over 1.4 million links were blocked for contempt of court, obscenity, anti-religion, proxy use, and hate speech. Of these, more than 1,061,000 links were related to obscene and unethical content, 148,000 against the state and Pakistan’s defense, 109,000 against religion, and 76,000 linked to sectarian or hate material. Defamation and fake identity content had the lowest blocking rate among all categories.
