Marília the Cow Breaks Dairy Record at São Paulo’s Milk Tournament
The world record for the highest milk yield from a cow in 24 hours through mechanical milking stands at an astonishing 123.61 litres. This remarkable feat was achieved by Marília FIV Teatro de Naylo, a cow owned by Andre Luis Gonçalves de Souza, during the XXXIV Torneio Leiteiro held in Areias, São Paulo, Brazil, on August 3, 2019.
Marília is a crossbreed, with a mix of Girolando and Holstein Friesian genetics, known for their exceptional milk-producing abilities. The cow produced the record-breaking volume, equivalent to 127.57 kg or 281 lb 3.89 oz of milk, solidifying her place in dairy history.
The achievement highlights the potential of crossbreeding for superior milk yield and has drawn attention from dairy farmers and livestock experts worldwide, eager to improve milk productivity in their own herds.
