Azerbaijan to Acquire 40 JF-17 Jets in Landmark $1.6–$4.2 Billion Defense Deal with Pakistan
Pakistan has finalized a landmark defense agreement to export 40 JF-17 Block III fighter jets to Azerbaijan. The deal, reportedly valued between $1.6 billion to $4.2 billion, marks one of the country’s largest-ever defense export contracts.

The JF-17 Block III, co-developed by Pakistan and China, is equipped with advanced features including an AESA radar system and compatibility with long-range missiles such as the PL-15 and PL-10. Azerbaijan is also considering integrating Turkish-made missiles into the fleet, reflecting the strengthening trilateral defense cooperation between Pakistan, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.
This deal not only boosts Pakistan’s defense exports but also enhances strategic ties in the region, with Azerbaijan expected to become a key operator of the JF-17 fighter jet.
