The Sindh government has unveiled an innovative plan to combat youth unemployment by providing electric vehicles (EVs) to unemployed individuals on easy instalments. This initiative aims to offer young people a sustainable livelihood while contributing to environmental conservation. The eco-friendly EV taxis will enable recipients to earn income through driving, aligning with the province’s dual goals of economic empowerment and green development.

Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has instructed the Transport Secretary to collaborate with banks and financial institutions to develop feasible financial models for the scheme. During a meeting with officials from a Karachi-based EV taxi assembly company, the minister was briefed on the environmental benefits of these vehicles. The repayment structure is being designed to allow beneficiaries to eventually own the taxis.
Minister Memon highlighted the programme’s dual benefits: creating long-term employment opportunities and promoting environmental sustainability. By introducing EV taxis, the initiative aligns with Sindh’s vision for a greener future and offers young people a self-reliant, eco-friendly source of income.
