The Kalash people’s spring festival, Chilim Jusht, began in Rumbur Valley on Monday, following its start in Birir Valley. The festival is set to commence in the major Kalash valley of Bumburate today. Hundreds of tourists, including foreigners, have arrived, booking hotels in advance in both the Kalash valleys and Chitral city.
The Kalash Valleys Development Authority (KVDA) has made extensive arrangements for the festival, including reopening camping pods and hotels, deploying tourism police, and setting up tourist facilitation centers. KVDA director general Minhasuddin highlighted the cultural significance of the festival, which begins with the ‘milk day’ custom and includes various ceremonies over four days, showcasing the vibrant traditions of the Kalash people.
