Air-CRAFT, which stands for the UAE Centre for Renewable and Advanced Fuel Technologies for Aviation, represents a collaborative effort across various sectors, including industrial policymakers, aviation regulators, fuel producers, academia, researchers, aircraft and powerplant manufacturers, and airline operators. This consortium, a first-of-its-kind in the region, aims to advance the production and scaling of SAF technologies.
Supported by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Air-CRAFT addresses the pressing need for sustainable practices in the aviation sector. His Excellency Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, highlighted the aviation sector’s significance as a key contributor to the GDP and emphasized its role in the country’s robust decarbonization efforts.

He stated, “This consortium, the largest and most unique in the SAF industry, represents a substantial stride towards a greener aviation future.”
The collaboration aligns with the UAE’s National SAF Roadmap principles and the global aviation industry’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. During CAAF/3, representatives from the eight consortium entities signed a strategic collaboration agreement to officially kickstart the Air-CRAFT initiative.
The U.S. government supports Air-CRAFT through its connection to the intergovernmental US-UAE ‘Partnership to Accelerate Transition to Clean Energy’ (PACE) agreement.
The industrial and institutional partners of the consortium invite UAE and international entities to join Air-CRAFT. The initiative is already in advanced discussions with strategic global players, with announcements expected soon.
