Netanyahu’s Bloc Loses Parliamentary Majority in Israel Election, Secures 53 Seats

Israel Election Results Leave Netanyahu Short of Majority as Coalition Talks Loom

Israel’s final election results have confirmed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political bloc has failed to secure a parliamentary majority, winning just 53 seats in the 120-member Knesset, well below the 61 seats required to form a government.

Netanyahu’s Likud party remained the largest political party, securing 27 seats, compared with 32 in the previous election. Meanwhile, the opposition bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar party won 48 seats, while Arab political parties secured a record 19 seats.

The results have left Israel facing a complicated political situation, with neither major bloc holding enough seats to govern independently. The record performance by Arab parties has also added another dimension to the parliamentary balance.

Coalition negotiations are expected to be challenging as political parties seek potential partners to secure the 61 seats required for a governing majority. The outcome could lead to prolonged negotiations and uncertainty over the formation of Israel’s next government.
