KP Emergency Necessary Amid Security Crisis, Says Senator Faisal Vawda

Senator Faisal Vawda has described the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) political chapter as over and supported the imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying the province’s deteriorating law and order situation made the decision necessary. Addressing a press conference at a press club, he said the measure was intended to protect the lives and property of citizens and called for the complete elimination of terrorism from Pakistan.

Vawda criticised the PTI’s 13-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, alleging that the province had suffered extensive damage during this period. He said the province belonged to its people and was not the property of any political party. He also highlighted the sacrifices of security personnel and civilians in the fight against terrorism, claiming that 7,500 people, including military and police personnel, had embraced martyrdom. He urged political leaders to support efforts to restore peace and respect the national flag, anthem and sacrifices of those killed in the line of duty.

The senator said the new administrative arrangement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be expected to deliver results, adding that Governor Faisal Karim Kundi would face questions about his performance. He expressed hope that improvements would begin to become visible within 60 days and said there would be no room for failure. Vawda also called for open support for the country’s military leadership and stressed that public backing should depend on performance rather than political slogans.

Vawda further claimed that disputes within PTI circles had weakened the party and declared that its political momentum had ended. He suggested that further political developments could follow, while expressing confidence that President Asif Ali Zardari and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman would support initiatives aimed at national development. He concluded that Pakistan’s security, stability and progress must take precedence over individual leaders and political interests.
