Shahid Afridi Raises Concern Over Rising Petrol Prices, Blames Government Policies
Former Pakistan captain and star all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi has expressed concern over the continued increase in petrol prices in the country.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Afridi said the repeated increase in petrol prices was not solely the result of global circumstances, but that government mismanagement was also a major factor.

“The continuous increase in petrol prices is not due to global circumstances but government incompetence,” says Shahid Afridi.
He said that when tax collection targets are not achieved, the burden is ultimately passed on to the poor. According to Afridi, heavy taxes on petrol are being used to generate additional revenue from the public.
Afridi said inflation had made it increasingly difficult for ordinary people to earn enough to meet even their basic food needs. He appealed to the government to provide relief to the public, saying people were already facing severe economic hardships.
It may be recalled that petrol and diesel prices have continued to rise in the country. Over the past five days, the price of petrol has increased by Rs30.13 per litre, while diesel has become more than Rs25 per litre more expensive.
