Sindh to Launch New Insurance Schemes with Private Sector, Says CM Murad Ali Shah
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced that the provincial government is partnering with the private sector to introduce multiple insurance schemes aimed at expanding financial protection and strengthening social safety nets across Sindh. Speaking at the 1st IAP & PSOA International Insurance Conference 2026 in Karachi, he said the government is supporting the insurance industry through investor-friendly policies, tax reductions and adequate funding for insurance premiums.

The chief minister highlighted Sindh’s pioneering mandatory third-party motor vehicle insurance scheme, which provides Rs700,000 compensation in case of death and Rs500,000 for permanent disability resulting from road accidents. He also revealed that the government is working on an accidental death insurance programme offering Rs100,000 coverage to every resident aged 18 and above, along with new health and agriculture insurance initiatives.

“Our government is committed to working with the private sector to expand insurance coverage and ensure greater financial security for the people of Sindh through innovative and inclusive insurance schemes,” Murad Ali Shah said.
Speakers at the conference stressed the need to improve insurance penetration in Pakistan through digital solutions, regulatory reforms and public awareness. Officials said expanding insurance coverage could significantly boost economic activity, while industry leaders described Pakistan’s low insurance penetration as a major opportunity for future growth. The conference brought together more than 500 local and international insurance professionals, regulators and policymakers to discuss the future of the sector.
