Spotify Introduces ChatGPT-Style AI to Personalize Music Discovery
STOCKHOLM: Spotify has introduced “Talk to Spotify,” a new conversational AI feature that allows eligible Premium subscribers to interact with the streaming platform using natural language. The beta feature, launched on July 14, 2026, enables users to type or speak requests, refine music recommendations, ask questions about songs, podcasts and audiobooks, and even manage playback without leaving the chat interface.

New ‘Talk to Spotify’ Feature Lets Users Chat with Their Music App
The AI assistant uses Spotify’s extensive music catalog along with a user’s listening history, playlists, favorite artists and repeat listens to deliver highly personalized recommendations. Users can ask the assistant to discover new artists, create mood-based playlists, add songs to the queue, save tracks, or provide information about albums, genres and artists. The feature also supports podcasts and audiobooks, making it a comprehensive guide to Spotify’s entire audio library.
“Talk to Spotify” builds on the company’s growing portfolio of AI-powered tools, including AI DJ, AI Playlists, and ChatGPT integration. Spotify says the new feature is designed to make discovering and interacting with content more conversational, replacing traditional searches and manual playlist creation with an AI-driven experience tailored to each listener’s preferences.
Spotify has launched Talk to Spotify, a conversational AI experience for eligible Premium subscribers.
For now, the beta version is available only to Premium subscribers aged 18 and above in the United States, Ireland and Sweden, and works in English on iOS and Android devices. Spotify has not yet announced when the feature will expand to other markets, but the company plans to continue broadening its AI capabilities as conversational technology becomes an increasingly important part of digital streaming.
