Pioneering Tripartite MoU Promises Real-Time Energy Monitoring and Enhanced Efficiency
In a first for Pakistan, Telenor Pakistan has signed a historic tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and SBEEC to implement smart metering technology at Base Transceiver Station (BTS) sites across AJ&K. This initiative aims to enhance energy efficiency, ensure accurate consumption monitoring, and support data-driven decision-making to optimize resource utilization. The project aligns with Telenor’s vision of promoting digital solutions for socio-economic development.

The MoU signing ceremony, held at Telenor’s Campus 345 in Islamabad, was attended by key officials, including Awais Vohra, Chief Technical Officer at Telenor Pakistan, and Irshad Ahmed Qureshi, Secretary of the Electricity Department, AJ&K. The smart metering solution will enable real-time electricity monitoring, precise billing, and the reduction of energy wastage, highlighting the importance of public-private collaboration in digital transformation efforts.
