4.7 million out-of-school children in KP government expenditure reaching Rs. 41,055 per student monthly
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has initiated a public-private partnership (PPP) to manage its government schools, aiming to improve education standards and reduce financial pressures. After a feasibility survey across 24 schools, eight primary schools were selected for a pilot phase, strategically located in districts such as D.I. Khan, Dir, Lakki Marwat, Abbottabad, and Haripur. This innovative approach targets the pressing issue of 4.7 million out-of-school children in KP, with current government expenditure reaching Rs. 41,055 per student monthly.
KP Education Department officials are optimistic that the PPP model will enhance school facilities and governance by integrating private sector efficiency and innovation. The partnership is expected to improve educational outcomes and create a more sustainable model for public education. This initiative forms part of KP’s broader strategy to provide quality education to more children across the province.
The success of this pilot phase could lead to the expansion of the PPP model throughout KP, potentially transforming the province’s education sector. As preparations for implementation continue, the government focuses on equipping schools and establishing monitoring mechanisms to ensure the program meets its goals of improving education quality and accessibility.
