US Senate Approves Legislation Requiring TikTok to Divest from ByteDance

The United States Senate has passed legislation requiring TikTok, the popular social media app, to divest from its Chinese parent company ByteDance or face being shut out of the US market. This measure was part of a $95 billion foreign aid package that included military assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. The bill, which passed with a 79-18 vote, now awaits President Joe Biden’s signature.
