Highlighting the global significance of soybeans, Dr. Khan pointed out that while China leads as the largest importer and the US as the largest exporter of this commodity, Pakistan faces a substantial import burden, particularly in edible oil, amounting to $10 billion annually. Proposing a solution, he suggested adopting strategies similar to India, which imposed import duties on soybeans to boost local cultivation and address nutritional deficiencies.
