In a momentous achievement, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) in Islamabad has secured the prestigious position of Pakistan’s leading university in the Times World University Rankings for the year 2024, capturing the 401st spot on the global stage.

The Times World University Rankings, constructed using THE’s WUR 3.0 methodology, meticulously assess institutions across 18 finely-tuned performance indicators, encompassing five pivotal domains: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. This comprehensive evaluation serves as a beacon of academic excellence worldwide.
This year’s highly anticipated rankings scrutinized a formidable roster of 1,904 universities spanning across 108 countries and regions, emphasizing the importance of Quaid-i-Azam University’s achievement on the global education landscape.

Among the various criteria used for assessment, Quaid-i-Azam University’s remarkable prowess in research quality stood out, securing a commendable 227th position globally.
While Quaid-i-Azam University led the charge for Pakistan, the academic landscape of the nation shone brightly, with 14 other institutions making notable appearances in the rankings. These included Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Air University, Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), COMSATS University Islamabad, UET Taxila, GC University Faisalabad, and NUST, all of which found themselves within the 601-800 range.

Further down the rankings, several institutions continued to make Pakistan proud. Bahria University, International Islamic University Islamabad, Islamia College Peshawar, University of Lahore, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), University of Malakand, University of Management and Technology, University of the Punjab, Institute of Space Technology, and University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore secured their positions within the 801-1000 range, further showcasing the diverse and thriving academic landscape of Pakistan.
