Speaking about their relationship, Safdar said that despite 35 years of marriage, children and grandchildren, they continued to maintain a happy balance in their relationship. He shared a light-hearted detail about their household, saying that Maryam Nawaz hides sweets whenever they are brought home to prevent them from affecting his health.
Safdar said that disagreements between them were generally minor and that Maryam Nawaz was always the first to take steps towards reconciliation. He also revealed that he prays for her to become the prime minister of Pakistan, expressing his support for her political ambitions.
Explaining why he has not joined the provincial cabinet, Safdar said that whenever Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz enters a room, everyone is expected to stand up out of respect. He suggested that this protocol makes it difficult for him to accept a government position, indicating that he prefers to remain outside the cabinet rather than occupy an official role under his wife’s leadership.
