Tehran Says Advanced Drone Strikes Severely Damaged US Bases in Iraq
Iranian military officials and commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have claimed that recent strikes almost completely destroyed US military infrastructure in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, and resulted in the deaths of more than 200 American troops. However, these claims have not been independently verified, and US authorities have not confirmed the reported casualties or the extent of the alleged damage.

According to foreign media reports, Iranian military spokesperson Mohammad Akramnia said on Iranian state television that the IRGC had carried out powerful attacks on US military facilities in Erbil, causing extensive damage to American bases and infrastructure. He also claimed that Iran is now deploying a new generation of highly accurate attack drones, describing them as more advanced, lethal, and effective than the previously known Arash-2 drones.
In a separate interview with Iran’s state news agency, IRGC spokesperson General Hossein Mohebi alleged that more than 200 US personnel had been killed in Iran’s retaliatory operations and accused Washington of concealing the true scale of its losses. He further claimed that eight major US military installations and around 20 fortified shelters were destroyed during the attacks, challenging the US government to allow international journalists to independently inspect the affected sites. These assertions remain unverified, and no independent evidence has been presented to support them.
