New PTA-Meta Partnership Aims to Make Pakistan’s Internet Safer for Children and Teens
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Meta have formalized their partnership through a letter of intent (LoI) aimed at creating a safer, more informed digital ecosystem for Pakistani users—especially the youth. Announced on Tuesday, the agreement establishes a joint framework to advance online safety, boost digital literacy, and encourage responsible use of social media platforms across the country.

Under the LoI, both organizations will collaborate on capacity-building programs, policy dialogues, public awareness campaigns, and the adoption of global best practices for digital well-being. The partnership also seeks to facilitate open discussions on content governance and regulatory compliance, ensuring that Pakistan’s digital environment aligns with both local values and international standards.
PTA Chairman Maj Gen (R) Hafeez ur Rehman emphasized the authority’s commitment to protecting vulnerable users, stating that the initiative reflects a dedicated push to secure a safer internet for children and young Pakistanis. Meanwhile, Meta’s involvement underscores a shared vision for balanced content moderation and constructive dialogue on safety practices.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward bridging the gap between regulation and innovation, with both sides pledging to work closely on initiatives that strengthen digital resilience and empower citizens to navigate online spaces confidently.
