FBR Proposes 20% Reduction in Import Duty, Bringing Relief to Mobile Phone Buyers
Smartphone prices across Pakistan are expected to decline significantly after the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) proposed a reduction in regulatory duties on imported mobile phones. If approved, consumers could save between Rs10,000 and Rs16,000 on various smartphone models.
Imported Smartphones May Become Cheaper as Pakistan Plans Regulatory Duty Reduction
According to the proposal, the FBR plans to reduce the regulatory duty on imported mobile phones by up to 20 percent. The move is expected to lower the retail prices of both premium and mid-range smartphones from several leading brands, making them more affordable for buyers.
Industry experts believe the reduction in import duties will directly benefit consumers by easing the overall cost of imported devices. The expected price cuts are being welcomed as a positive development for Pakistan’s mobile phone market and could also boost consumer demand and smartphone sales across the country.
