Users Can Now React to Songs in Spotify Shared Playlists with Emojis
Spotify has rolled out a new emoji reaction feature for collaborative playlists, making it easier for users to interact with songs added by friends and fellow contributors. The update allows playlist members to respond to tracks using emojis such as ❤️, 😂, 👍, 🎧, 🔥, and 🥹.
When a contributor reacts to a song, the person who originally added the track receives a notification through Spotify Messages. The reactions remain private within the group, meaning only the playlist owner and contributors can view them. Spotify also allows playlist owners to disable emoji reactions if they prefer not to use the feature. For playlists with fewer than 10 editors, reactions are enabled by default, while larger groups require the owner to activate the option manually.
Spotify Expands Playlist Features with New Emoji Reaction Tool
The new feature is part of Spotify’s broader effort to enhance playlist customization and user engagement. In recent months, the streaming platform has introduced tools such as playlist importing from rival services, AI-generated playlists, custom song transitions, and expanded podcast and audiobook features. Spotify has also launched a Fitness Hub as it continues to position itself as a central part of users’ daily digital experiences.
