PTA Completes Third Round of 5G Spectrum Auction with Strong Telecom Participation
Pakistan has taken a significant step toward introducing next-generation mobile connectivity after the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) successfully concluded the third round of the country’s 5G spectrum auction on Tuesday, generating $507 million in revenue.
The auction, held in Islamabad, offered 600 MHz of spectrum for advanced mobile services and attracted bids from the country’s three leading telecom operators. Officials described the development as a major milestone for strengthening Pakistan’s digital infrastructure and improving nationwide access to high-speed internet.

The launch ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima, and Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar, along with PTA Chairman Major General (Retd) Hafeez Ur Rehman.
Under the government’s initial plan, 5G services will first be introduced in five major cities, with further expansion expected once the initial rollout phase is completed.
