EU Labels Moscow’s Attack Narrative a “Deliberate Distraction” from Peace Efforts

Russia has reiterated claims that Ukraine carried out a large-scale drone attack on Monday targeting one of President Vladimir Putin’s residences, releasing footage of wreckage to support its narrative. Ukrainian leaders, including President Volodymyr Zelensky and foreign ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi, dismissed the allegations as fabricated and “laughable,” insisting no such attack took place.
The controversy has drawn international attention, with US President Donald Trump noting that Putin personally informed him of the alleged incident, though he later admitted it may not have occurred. European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas criticized Moscow’s narrative as a deliberate distraction, arguing that Russia seeks to undermine progress toward peace between Ukraine and its Western partners.
