WhatsApp Introduces Built-In Document Scanner for Android Users
Say Goodbye to Third-Party Scanners – Meta Upgrades WhatsApp: Now Scan & Share Documents Directly as PDFs
WhatsApp is rolling out a new in-app document scanner for Android beta testers, eliminating the need for external scanning apps. The feature allows users to capture, convert, and share documents as PDFs seamlessly within WhatsApp, streamlining file-sharing without switching between apps.

How It Works
After updating to WhatsApp beta v2.25.18.29, users will see a “Scan Document” option alongside “Browse Documents” and “Choose from Gallery” in the attachment menu. Tapping it activates the phone’s camera to capture documents. WhatsApp offers two scanning modes:
- Manual Mode: Users select which part of the document to scan.
- Auto Mode: The app automatically detects document edges for precision.
Beta Testing & Availability
The feature is currently available to select Android beta testers via the Google Play Beta Program. Meta plans a wider release soon, reinforcing WhatsApp’s shift toward all-in-one functionality.
