The Ismaili community worldwide is mourning the passing of Mawlana Shah Karim Al-Hussaini, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. He passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal, surrounded by his family.

In accordance with Ismaili tradition, Mawlana Shah Karim had designated his successor as the 50th Imam. The designation is outlined in his will, which will be read in the presence of his family and senior Jamati leaders. The Jamat will then be officially notified of the declared Hazar Imam, who maintains the unbroken hereditary succession from Mawlana Ali (peace be upon him).
The Ismaili community extends its deepest condolences to the Imam’s family and expresses gratitude for his life, his leadership, and his enduring legacy of service to humanity.
