The fibre optic network will also play a crucial role in positioning Pakistan as a regional internet hub. It will facilitate the transfer of internet traffic from Central Asia’s terrestrial networks to submarine cable networks in the Arabian Sea. This development further reinforces Pakistan’s significance in the region’s digital landscape, providing faster and low-latency internet access across cities and rural areas alike.

Aamir Ali Baloch, CEO of Pakistan Railways, emphasized the milestone achievement of this agreement in contributing to national infrastructure beyond transportation. Danish A Lakhani, CEO of Cybernet, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of IT and Telecom and partners, highlighting the collaboration’s potential to catalyze digitization, innovation, and productivity across the country, especially in areas underserved by ultrafast broadband.
