The Pakistani car industry experienced significant growth in July 2024, with a remarkable 60% year-over-year (YoY) increase in sales. Local manufacturers sold 8,589 vehicles, marking a notable rebound in the market. Honda Civic and City led the charge with a 279.81% increase, selling 790 units compared to 208 in July 2023. Similarly, the Suzuki Swift saw an impressive 101.60% jump in sales, with 502 units sold, highlighting the model’s growing popularity.

While some models flourished, others saw a decline. Sales of Suzuki Cultus and WagonR dropped compared to the previous year, with 96 and 139 units sold, respectively. On the other hand, Suzuki Alto boomed with a 99.23% increase, becoming the best-selling car in July 2024 with 2,869 units sold. In addition to car sales, motorcycles and three-wheelers saw a 15.49% increase compared to the same month in 2023.

Despite the YoY growth, the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) report highlighted a 36% decline in month-over-month sales. The economy’s current state and rising automobile prices have made it challenging for consumers to purchase their desired vehicles, leading to underperformance in the market compared to the previous month.
