In a disturbing incident in Sindh’s Sanghar district, five individuals were arrested after they were implicated in the violent amputation of a camel’s leg. The incident occurred on June 14 in the Mundh Jamrao area when the camel wandered into an agricultural field. Infuriated by the animal’s intrusion, the landlord and his employees tortured the camel before severing its leg with a sharp tool. The footage of this brutal act quickly spread on social media, leading to widespread condemnation.
Sindh Govt plans to establish new industrial zones
Despite public outrage, initial police reports filed an FIR against unknown individuals rather than directly naming the landlord. However, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ijaz confirmed the arrest of five suspects, with two confessing to the crime. Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori announced plans to provide two camels to the injured animal’s owner. PPP MNA Shazia Atta Marri and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah took serious notice of the incident, leading to further arrests and medical care for the injured camel.
The camel, now receiving medical treatment at an animal shelter in Karachi, will undergo comprehensive rehabilitation, including the fitting of a prosthetic leg. PPP leader Samita Afzal Syed confirmed that the camel is now at ease in the shelter and will be fitted with a prosthetic leg as part of its recovery. Protests erupted at the Sanghar Press Club, and authorities have been directed to ensure appropriate action against those responsible for the inhumane act.
