Expressing her gratitude, she remarked, “I am deeply thankful for the unwavering support of my country. It will be an immense source of pride for me to carry Pakistan’s flag into space.”
As a Dubai-based astronaut, Namira Salim is a pioneering figure who has already made history with her previous polar expeditions.
Virgin Galactic made headlines in June when it conducted its inaugural commercial spaceflight, although it carried Italian experts rather than typical tourists. In August and September, the company followed up with the first spaceflights designed for civilian tourists.

This time, Ms. Salim will be an integral part of the mission, securing a seat aboard the VSS Unity spacecraft, a part of Virgin Galactic’s pioneering endeavors in space tourism. She is among the fortunate 100 individuals who purchased tickets from the American firm for this extraordinary journey, having secured her spot back in 2006. Now, her long-awaited opportunity to venture into space is finally here.
