Government Revises Fuel Prices as Petrol Hits Rs393.33 Per Litre
The government has reduced the price of one petroleum product after imposing major increases on petrol and high-speed diesel. According to a notification issued by OGRA, the price of kerosene has been cut by Rs63.60 per litre, bringing its new price down to Rs365.21 per litre. This follows another reduction of Rs21.34 per litre in kerosene prices announced last week.
Meanwhile, the government has raised the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs26.77 per litre each. Following the increase, petrol is now priced at Rs393.33 per litre, while high-speed diesel has reached Rs380.19 per litre. The revised prices came into effect on April 25 and will remain applicable for one week. Officials attributed the increase to rising global oil prices, regional tensions, and commitments linked to international agreements.

Authorities also said the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) on petrol was increased from Rs80.61 to Rs107.38 per litre, which was a major factor behind the petrol price hike, while the levy on high-speed diesel remains at zero. Officials stated that without the increase in the petrol levy, petrol prices could have remained unchanged.
