Flights to Resume Gradually as Iran Eases Airspace Restrictions Amid Regional Tensions
Iran has partially reopened its airspace after 50 days by resuming operations at six airports. According to Iranian media, Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport, along with airports in Mashhad, Birjand, Gorgan, and Zahedan, have been reopened.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Iran announced that eastern air routes were reopened at 7 a.m., allowing international flights to pass through the region. Officials stated that flights from all airports will gradually resume, though no specific timeline has been provided.
Authorities added that restrictions imposed amid regional tensions are beginning to ease. However, as of midday today, flight arrivals and departures from Iran had not yet restarted.
It is worth noting that Iran closed its airspace on February 28 following U.S. and Israeli strikes on the country.
