Babar Azam’s position as Pakistan’s white-ball captain is under scrutiny after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not name him as captain for the upcoming Champions One Day Cup, sparking speculation about his future leadership role. Sources suggest that Babar may be removed as white-ball captain before Pakistan’s tour of Australia, where the team will play three T20Is and three ODIs. White-ball head coach Gary Kirsten has already discussed the possibility of a new captain with board officials, with Mohammad Rizwan being considered as a potential replacement.
Babar Azam’s recent performance, particularly in Test cricket, has added to the concerns surrounding his leadership. He struggled in the Test series against Bangladesh, scoring minimal runs and losing his top spot in the ICC Test Rankings.
