Refined Copper Drives Surge in Pakistan’s Mineral Trade with China
Pakistan’s copper and copper-based exports to China crossed $1.14 billion in 2025, reflecting rising demand from China’s manufacturing and clean-energy industries, according to data from China’s General Administration of Customs. The strong performance was largely driven by refined copper shipments, which make up the bulk of exports.

Alongside refined copper, exports of copper ores and concentrates also increased, exceeding $11 million during the year. Pakistan’s mineral trade with China showed growing diversification, with zinc ores and concentrates reaching $110.90 million, chromium ores totaling $89.43 million, and aluminum ores surging by 4,700 percent to $14.16 million.
Additional exports included aluminium and related products valued at $30.35 million, supporting China’s downstream manufacturing sector. Industry sources noted that refineries in cities such as Gujranwala play a key role in processing raw materials into finished copper products for export. Both countries are working to strengthen supply chains and expand value-added production, aiming to raise copper exports to between $3 billion and $4 billion in the coming years.
