Trapped in Debt: Man Takes His Life After Relentless Pressure Over Mobile Phone Payments
KOTRI – A 30-year-old man, identified as Yasir Kharl, died by suicide after allegedly facing relentless harassment over unpaid installments for a mobile phone.
Kharl, a married father of two, had purchased the phone through an installment plan from a Karachi-based seller. According to sources, the seller repeatedly pressured him for missed payments and even involved local police to intimidate him. Unable to cope with the mounting stress and financial strain, Kharl took his own life.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage, with many questioning aggressive recovery tactics used by sellers and the role of authorities in such cases.
