From Rejection to $15B Deal: The Unknown Founder Zuckerberg Couldn’t Ignore
Mark Zuckerberg wanted to work with Alexandr Wang so badly that Meta took a drastic step—buying a 49% stake in his company, Scale AI, for a staggering $15 billion.

At just 28 years old, Wang is the CEO of Scale AI, a critical data infrastructure firm that powers AI development for giants like Meta and OpenAI. While he may not be a household name yet, that’s about to change—thanks to one of the biggest AI deals of the year.
Meta confirmed the partnership late Thursday, stating:
“Meta has finalized our strategic partnership and investment in Scale AI. As part of this, we will deepen our collaboration on AI training data, and Alexandr Wang will join Meta to contribute to our superintelligence initiatives.”
This move signals Meta’s aggressive push into next-gen AI, with Wang now playing a key role in shaping its future.
