Xiaomi’s Electric Sedan Shatters Nürburgring Record with 7:04 Lap Time
In an impressive display of performance and engineering, Xiaomi — widely known for its smartphones and now a rising electric vehicle manufacturer — has made headlines by breaking the lap record for a four-door production car at Germany’s legendary Nürburgring race track. The company’s SU7 Ultra, a tri-motor, high-performance electric sedan, completed the 20.8 km lap in 7 minutes and 4.957 seconds, surpassing the previous record held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package by nearly 2 seconds.

The achievement was proudly announced by Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun, who shared uncut footage of the record-setting lap on X (formerly Twitter). He praised the team’s efforts and hinted at future attempts to further lower the time. The video revealed the car’s blistering speed, precise handling, and impressive stopping power — thanks to carbon-ceramic brakes and high-performance AP Racing callipers that withstand temperatures beyond 800°C.
SU7 Ultra’s 1548 HP, 0-100 in 1.97 Sec Stuns EV World, Breaks Track Records
Under the hood, the SU7 Ultra boasts a staggering 1548 horsepower delivered through a tri-motor setup, propelling the car from 0-100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds and reaching speeds of over 350 km/h. The powertrain is supported by CATL’s latest Qilin battery, optimized for high-output performance and capable of recharging in under 12 minutes — making it perfectly suited for high-stress track conditions. The vehicle also generates a remarkable 2145 kg of downforce, helping it stay firmly planted at high speeds.

Xiaomi’s achievement is even more remarkable considering the brand only launched its first SU7 sedan in April last year. With over 10,000 confirmed orders for the high-performance Ultra variant, the company is quickly making a name for itself in the competitive EV market. Industry watchers believe this Nürburgring record is just the beginning, as Lei Jun and his team have made clear their ambition to continuously evolve and potentially break the coveted 7-minute mark in the near future.
