Saudi Arabia Confirms Smooth Movement of 1.67 Million Pilgrims for Hajj 2025
More than 1.67 million pilgrims are performing Hajj this year, according to figures released by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics on Thursday, as worshippers gathered for the pivotal ritual of standing at Arafat.
Out of the total 1,673,230 pilgrims, around 1,506,576 arrived from overseas through air, land, and sea entry points, while 166,654 pilgrims came from within the Kingdom, including Saudi citizens and residents.
The official data also revealed that 877,841 male pilgrims and 795,389 female pilgrims are participating in this year’s pilgrimage.
The announcement was made as pilgrims converged on the sacred plain of Arafat, located east of Makkah, to perform the most significant rite of Hajj — a day of prayer, reflection, and supplication considered the spiritual peak of the five-day pilgrimage.
Saudi authorities confirmed that the movement of pilgrims to Arafat progressed smoothly, with traffic managed efficiently and operational plans executed successfully.
This year’s Hajj is being held from June 4 to June 9, marking one of the largest gatherings of Muslims worldwide for one of Islam’s Five Pillars — an obligation for all able-bodied and financially capable Muslims to perform at least once in their lifetime.
