PTI MNA, Former MPA Among 11 Convicted in Ramna Police Station Attack Case
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Thursday sentenced 11 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers, including MNA Abdul Latif and former MPA Wazir Zada, in connection with the May 9 arson case involving an attack on the Ramna police station.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra delivered the verdict, sentencing the convicts to a combined total of 15 years and four months in prison along with financial penalties on charges including terrorism, arson, attempted murder, and obstruction of police duties.

Following the verdict, police immediately took four of the convicts — Muhammad Akram, Meera Khan, Shahzaib, and Sohail Khan — into custody from the courtroom, while arrest warrants were issued for the remaining absentees.
Notably, MNA Abdul Latif was absent during the announcement of the verdict. If the conviction is upheld by higher courts, the lawmaker faces disqualification from public office for five years.
In the court’s ruling, Judge Sipra stated that the accused were involved in attacking the Ramna police station, opening fire, hurling stones, and attempting to kill police officers. Additionally, they set motorcycles ablaze for their own motives.
The prosecution presented the testimonies of 24 witnesses, and an identification parade was conducted before magistrates as part of the trial proceedings.
